“God is with the Generation of the Righteous!”

“For God is with the generation of the righteous,” Psalm 14:5, NKJV

“With” is a simple four-lettered word we throw in the middle of a sentence to show the togetherness of something or someone.  But, when speaking of our relationship with God, we do have that definition of God being near us wherever we are.  We do have the meaning of Him walking amongst us through the valley lows and the mountain highs.  We do have that basic hint of the word “with,” but we also have so much more.

That word, as general as it is in meaning, not only tells us where God is in conjunction with His people but because of where He is, it also declares a shift in our stance and position in this world.  We are not just the run of the mill ordinary folk you may meet on the street in passing.  We are not the average Joe that people may be used to dealing with.  As we are taking our daily steps and going about our routines, we and they must realize there is so much more to us than what the naked eye may see.  As we sit at our desks to work or do whatever tasks our job requires, our position may look like everybody else’s on the outside – oh but, inside He is there.  God has implanted a part of Himself in the heart of each believer and He has attached Himself to the righteous.

Listen, it may not always feel like it, but when people look at you what they are seeing is just a shadow of what you really got going on with you.  Surrounding you and dwelling in you, through the power of the Holy Spirit is God Almighty.  Today, walk with your head held high knowing that no matter how people perceive you, their view is obscured by whatever bias they carry.  Who you are in God and God with you speaks of so much more.  Your stance and your position now are one of grace, power, holiness, love, and peace that is not only covering your life but is walking with you every step of the way.

Today, Lord, You have chosen to draw near to where Your people are.  You have surrounded us on every side and have taken up residence in the innermost parts of our being.  God, thank You for the gift of You.  Thank You for loving us so much that even in Your omnipotent and holy nature, You have attached Yourself to humble creatures such as we, Your people, and You desire to be with us wherever we are.  This is a most priceless gift to us.  Let us not take lightly this preciousness of Your presence with us.  In the name of Jesus Christ, AMEN!

Simple words of encouragement… “God is for YOU!”

Has discouragement tried to enter where God has placed you today? Has confusion tried to make you feel less than; as if God is not for you today?  Has your day already started off on the wrong foot?

Jesus said, “In the world ye shall have tribulation. . .,” John 16:33a. He knew that there would some days where we face trouble and discouragement; there would be times when we feel like we are in this alone. In those times, He wants to reassure us that He is for us. He has never left us. He has never forsaken us. His plans for us have a glorious end so don’t let any circumstance make you believe that God doesn’t have your back because He does. He’s here and He is for you!

Jesus went on to say, ” …but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world,” John 16:33b; and if you are in Him and stay with Him and believe in Him, you will too. Because God is for you!

Walk Away Differently!

Never!  And, I mean, never leave the presence of God the same way you came.  Anybody who has had a true, real-life encounter with God walks away differently.

  • Moses’ face shone with the glory of His brightness (Exodus 34:29-35).
  • Jacob left with a limp, but a new name (Genesis 32:22-32).
  • Abraham left with a promise (Genesis 12:1-3).
  • Paul was knocked off his beast but had a new mission in life (Acts 9:1-16).

I could really go on and on with example after example (way too many to mention).  Any time we come into the presence of God we should not leave the same way we came.  There is something supernatural that should take over this holy encounter as the Spirit that dwells in you, dear believer, hooks up with the Source of all life.

When meeting with God there is an awe-inspiring reverential feeling that takes over the atmosphere of your heart.  Whether it be a physical meeting of something more, or if we are speaking of meeting with Him in prayer, worship, reading the Word, and the like – there should be some manifestation that you have been where He is.

Am I talking about walking away with a physical expression causing you to walk funny the rest of your life?  No.  Unless that is His will.  But, what I am talking about is there should be a change of some sort that takes place; something that attests to the fact that He and I have communed together on a personal, spiritual level.

Perhaps a situation that looked hopeless was comforted in prayer leaving you with a calm you didn’t feel before.  Maybe sorrows grabbed your heart, but through His Word peace was revealed and hope renewed for another day.  In any way, shape, or form that we have an opportunity to hook up with God; to be where He is and to be filled up of Him; we should be fully spiritually awakened to that specific moving of the hour and take full advantage of time spent with Him.

Things can be changed when we meet with God!  We don’t have to leave the same way we came!  He can do a complete turnaround in the hearts and minds of men.  He makes the impossible become possible.  He can speak and things come to pass that never existed.  Or, just being where He is can renew faith, lift spirits, and dawn hope on a future path that was once appeared dreary.

If you come to a service, make up your mind you won’t leave the same way you came in.  There should always be a better impact of being where He is.  There should always be a holy impression made on you and your life from drawing nigh unto the Almighty.  If we meet with Him in life, prayer, praise, or whatever and wherever – do so with the same ambitious determined mentality: “I will walk away differently than I came.  I am going to benefit from my encounter with God Almighty.”

And, please, hear me really clearly – I am not referring to selfish benefits, dear friend.  For the world and the church hears too much of that these days.  The benefits I speak of are things only He can do in your life; they are workings only He can perform for those who come to where He is.

Yes, some of the examples above show physical blessings of holy encounters.  How much more blessed if we walk away with spiritual benefits abounding?  “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly,” John 10:10 proclaims.  Sweeter still if that abundance is overflowing with the beauty of who He is working on the inside of someone like you and me.

“Life gives us two options…”

Life gives us two options: stop where we are now and walk away or keep moving forward until one’s destination is reached. Giving up is not an option. The perseverance of our Christian journey is more than obtaining worldly goals, success, and the like. It’s a continual press onward and upward toward the kingdom of God. Heaven is our destination, and although it may be hard at times, we must keep pressing forth until we are where Jesus is.

“Go Forward!”

When God was ready for the children of Israel to go through the Red Sea, despite what appeared to be an obstacle before them, He told Moses, “Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward:” Exodus 14:15. Sometimes we have to stop worrying over everything, we have to stop staring at the problem, and just GO FORWARD!

“May your Good Night Blessings be found in the comfort of the Lord!”

EVENING SCRIPTURE PRAYER: “Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.” – 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17
