Words to Live By – “Even from the little seed…”

“And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.” Matthew 17:20

Friends, it doesn’t take much for God to move mountains. Your little stuff matters. Be bold in where God is leading you. You don’t need to have everything figured out or even the greatest influence. All you need is to be willing to invest what little you do have in the garden of God’s plan and watch Him grow it into an abundant harvest.

Your harvest may not look like everyone else’s, but keep sowing, keep planting, keep showing up, and eventually you will reap if you faint not (Galatians 6:9).

Big stuff is just big stuff. What impressed Jesus the most was those who were willing to give, even if the value of it wasn’t recognized as being significant in the eyes of others (Luke 21:1-4).

For our God, who spoke everything into creation just by the words of His mouth, He is the One who is “able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us” (Ephesians 3:20).

You have it in you, my friend. In faith, bring what little you have, sow it, and it will grow.

Stop the tug of war in your mind that goes on between what God promised and doubts. Even if it seems challenging and insurmountable, if God’s Word says it’s true, it is true, and nothing shall be impossible for those who believe (Mark 9:23; Matthew 17:20).

(And yes, just one of those little seeds produced those big greens. Isn’t God wonderful like that!)

Not only for the psalmist, but it is good for me, too.

My friend, this world will pull you in many directions, but when we draw near to God, we insulate our hearts against the harshness around us and, in Him, find our peace, our Rock, and our trust.

“But it is good for me to draw near to God…” Psalm 73:28

Word to Live By: Unmoved and Unfazed

The winds of this life will blow, my friend.
Trials and struggles may come and try to uproot us.
But when we are planted in Christ, the winds may blow, yet we will remain unmoved and unfazed.
For even if we feel weak, thanks to Jesus Christ in us, we are indeed strong. 🙏
“…For when I am weak, then I am strong.” 2 Corinthians 12:10

That day, the people honored Him with their “Hosanna” shout. They rallied and proclaimed the praises of Him who would save them, for that’s the meaning behind the word “Hosanna;” to “save now.”

“Hosanna” was the shout of triumph. In Him, they saw a victorious King. In Him, they had an expectancy of deliverance. In Him they rejoiced, proclaiming that He is the one who would fulfill the promise of “the kingdom of our father David,” (see 2 Samuel 7:12-14).

So, they rejoiced and shouted that He was, “Blessed.” His “kingdom” is “blessed.” He is the one that “cometh in the name of the Lord!” They were getting their praise on as we say it today! The King has arrived! The King has come! “Blessed is he!”

Jesus is He that was to come; the King to reign for all eternity. Let us shout his praises: “Hosanna in the highest!” There’s no need to look for another. He’s the One!

Friend, because of His triumph, we are no longer defined by the past; rather, we are now defined by what Christ has already done for us. New life awaits those who trust in Him. Today, you can rest in the finished work of Christ on the cross for yourself! That’s what Passion Week is all about. It’s about remembering and celebrating what He already accomplished for us on that sacred tree! In that, we honor our Lord Jesus Christ! “𝐇𝐨𝐬𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐚! 𝐁𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐬 𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐨𝐫𝐝.”

The Love of a Father

Friend, there is nothing like the insulating protectiveness and love of a true father. These men have a just cause to be on guard and protect those in their home. They are his. They belong to him; he will let no foul beast or person come against them unchallenged. He will provide for their care and run to the aid of the little one that cries out to him. Our Heavenly Father is no different. He set the course for all other fathers to follow, and His love for us is true, right, undying, pure, and protective. When the battles of life rage against us, God’s got you covered. There may be times when we may feel the enemy’s strike against us but the final victory will always belong to our Heavenly Father who surrounds and defends His people: “As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds his people, from this time forth and forevermore” (Psalm 125:2, ESV).

The Promise of New

Friend, is your heart leaping in anticipation? Do you get butterflies tingling in your tummy with the heartbeat racing at the idea of something new? New is exciting. New comes with expectation. Some days, when our eyes open in the morning, it is easy to see the freshness and beauty. But other days may not seem so glorious as bad news spreads, world upsets are made prominent, and the disease of sin runs rampant. On days like this, one can almost hear the unpleasant groaning of creation (Rom. 8:22), and you can almost hear the cry for restored order and healing. And it will come. Any ugliness and dreariness of sin and decay today will all give way to the promise of the new that is to come. We are encouraged that things will not remain as they are now, with the Word encouraging us, saying, “And he who was seated on the throne said, ‘Behold, I am making all things new.’ Also he said, ‘Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.'” (Revelation 21:5, ESV). We will, without a doubt, see the promise of the new.

Unexhaustable Faith

Friend, let me assure you today that the faith we place in our Heavenly Father is a faith that cannot be exhausted. Our situations may be exhausting, and certain things or people may be tiresome and challenging, but the foundation of where our faith is placed and stands is sure. Instead of dwindling, like an unending stream, it is renewed and flows fresh every single day (Lam. 3:22, 23). He doesn’t need a cup of coffee to get through the day like some of us. He has all the strength, vigor, and unending support to offer and see us through anything because, “The everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary…” (Isaiah 40:28).

Trust

Friends, sometimes directions can get the best of us. Be it trying to find a destination, build a creative project, or bake a new recipe – directions come in handy because they tell us the best way to perform the tasks ahead to get the desired results we are hoping for. Some directions we may not understand until we get to the middle or end of a project and then we realize why they said to do a certain thing (and if you are like me, sometimes you have to pull it all apart and start over the “right way”). What’s true in the natural is even more true in the spiritual. Every instruction, correction, direction, or command we read in the Bible we may not understand, but one thing we can always understand is, that God knows what He is doing. He knows how to get the end results we desire. Our job today and every day is to just “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths” (Proverbs 3:5, 6). God knows what He’s doing in your life.

God’s Unexpiring Word

Friend, look into your cabinet now and see how many things have an expiration date. But as children of God, we have His unexpiring word to cling to. We have this blessed assurance in every promise God has bestowed on us. Sometimes the journey will be harder than we would like it to be, yet the assurance remains the same, for “God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?” (Numbers 23:19). Even if your days feel like you are standing on shakey ground, His promises are still immovable. Even if you don’t understand, His words are still true and will hold through the test of time, even to the very end: “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away” (Matthew 24:35).

Don’t Miss the Visit

Friends, it only takes a moment to miss a prime opportunity. In the blink of an eye, what could have been is no more a possibility. Many of the Pharisees who were looking for the Messiah missed the meaning and life of the person of Jesus Christ, the Messiah, whom they continually attacked and rebuked. When others in the crowd shouted, “Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord” (Luke 19:38), their shouts were one of trying to quench their praises because they did not recognize Jesus for who He really was. Jesus wept over the city and the people (Lk. 19:41) and spoke these words: “If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes… thou knewest not the time of thy visitation” (Lk. 19:42, 44). A clear vision of Jesus is imperative to our Christian faith. Don’t miss the visit. Whenever and wherever you see God moving and revealing, lean into it and refuse to let the opportunity slip through your fingers, especially if it is a decision of salvation.
