Habakkuk tells us, โFor the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry,โ (2:3). Shortly after that in the next verse, he says, โThe just shall live by his faith,โ (2:4b). Every word of God for good or for bad, for happy or for sad, for those who believe or for those who donโt believe, it will come to pass! Our heavenly Father knows what He is doing. We may not always understand the pause in the plan, but wait. We may not fully comprehend how this is working out for our good, but wait. In the waiting, our faith is becoming more active and alive. In our waiting, faith is speaking on our behalf that we trust God and His perfect plan for our lives.
The Bible reminds us:
“But they that wait upon theย Lordย shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” – Isaiah 40:31
“Rest in theย Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.” – Psalm 37:7
“I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of theย Lordย in the land of the living. Wait on theย Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on theย Lord.” – Psalm 27:13, 14
So this is my declaration for today: “Therefore I will look unto theย Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me.” – Micah 7:7

โFrom the first day of the seventh month began they to offer burnt offerings unto the LORD.ย But the foundation of the temple of the LORD was not yet laid.โ Ezra 3:6
Our drive to have everything perfect often gets in the way of progress. Sometimes certain things just need to be left alone so that other, more important things can be done right now. Continuing to put it off will only be more of a hindrance. As they say, there is no time like the present. And this is how the returning captives from Babylon felt. They had been out of proper worship of God for quite some time. Things were not as they should be, but they were moving in the right direction. Offerings were being restored. People’s hearts were being moved to draw closer to God. The spiritual hunger was there and now was the time to do what needed to be done even if other things were not in their proper place yet.
Worship canโt wait. Drawing closer to God can’t wait. Getting hearts realigned with God canโt wait. Restoring fellowship and bringing back the service of the LORD could not wait for the foundation of the temple to be laid. It was vital for them to eventually get the building back in shape the way it needed to be, but it was even more important to deal with their hearts first. The foundation of the physical building can be laid later, but the foundation of the spiritual building needs to be laid immediately. The Apostle Paul taught us, โKnow ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?โ (1 Corinthians 3:16). This takes precedence over all else.
We all have a mountain of things to face each day and/or an extensive to-do list. And they are real things that need to be done – eventually. But what comes first? Or, should I say, who comes first? There is no substitute for showing God He has priority in your worship, in your life, and in your heart:
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” – Matthew 6:33
“In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” – Proverbs 3:6
“Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek theย Lord, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.” – Hosea 10:12, emphasis added
“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.” – Hebrews 12:1, emphasis added
“Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.” – Psalm 46:10
It just cannot wait!

โThe anointing is me is not as strong as another.โ
โI canโt do this.โ
โI donโt have enough to work with.โ
โI am too small.โ
โI donโt have someone supporting me like that.โ
Have you ever struggled with the idea of you donโt have enough in you to make a difference or a positive impact? Do you feel God pulling you into an area of faith but the fear that your โlittle bit of stuffโ is not enough and itโs holding you back?
Many people struggle with thoughts such as these. If itโs not big, it wonโt work. But God never called us into big things. But, what He did do was call us to step out in faith believing in Him, in where He wants to take us.
There is to be no inferiority complex among Godโs people. We are not depending on what we bring to the table. Our dependence is upon Him and what He does with what we bring. God is the one that establishes the work of our hands (Psalms 90:17). God is the one who gives the increase off of what we do (1 Corinthians 3:7). Therefore, it doesnโt matter what we think of the size of what we bring because God is the one working behind the scenes; God is the one who works in it to outsize all.
All He asks of us is to step out in faith and work with what He gave us.
โFor who hath despised the day of small things?โ (Zechariah 4:10). Every great tree that stands tall in the forest started from a small thing; from a seed. Your โsmall thingโ is the seed of your gift that God is waiting for you to plant so that He can cause it to grow. An unplanted seed will not flourish and neither will your gift.
Donโt shun it because you think itโs not big enough. Donโt toss it to the side because you think itโs not good enough and doesnโt matter. Itโs not about what you bring; itโs all about what He does with what you bring.
Luke 16:10 tells us, โHe that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much . . .โ God wants to see what you do with the โleastโ before He turns it into โmuch.โ Wonโt you plant your little seed today?
Little stuff matters. If you donโt think so, take encouragement from these little critters:
โThere be four things which are little upon the earth, but they are exceeding wise:
The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer,
The conies are but a feeble folk, yet make they their houses in the rocks;
The locusts have not king, yet go they forth all of them by bands;
The spider taketh hold with her hands, and is in kingsโ palaces,โ (Proverbs 30:24-28).
You see, itโs not about size or strength, but the wisdom God gives to those who render their little bit of stuff to Him in service. Size doesnโt matter to God because He is the God of increase. What matters most with God is our faithfulness in rendering what we do have to Him and trusting Him to let it grow.
“Little things make big things happen” (John Wooden).
Especially, when God is in it. So, don’t cast it off. Work it!
Blessings.

This is where our focus lies today. Not in ourselves. Not in our abilities. Not in other people. God is my Strength, my Source, my Healer, my Redeemer. Go forth in His power today! “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.” Psalm 28:7

Sour thoughts.ย Ill feelings. Have you ever struggled with these?ย There are days when they seem to invade your thinking.ย Although you donโt want them there, they seem to come unannounced.ย Not asking for your permission to be there, they come and tread upon the courts of your mind, disrupting your beautiful day.
When they step into your territory, what do you do? Do you let them walk around freely, unhindered? Or do you dismiss them and show them the way out?
Meandering about means they have a chance to muddy up the places marked with their footprints.ย In their meandering, they can bring confusion, bitterness, hurt, and pain.ย They can bring wrong assumptions that leave much devastation in their wake.ย Continuing their journey in your space unleashed can quickly tear apart what took years of love and hard work to build.
But giving them the boot frees you from these radicals that just want to stir up strife in our homes and in our lives.ย And the process the Apostle Paul gave us to do just that in and of itself, is not that complicated.ย
His advice: โFinally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these thingsโ (Philippians 4:8).ย
When it is peace that we want and not things that cause bitterness and strife, we have the choice to replace those sour thoughts with something lovely and beautiful.ย We can make the decision within ourselves to not settle for something that puts in us and draws out of us things we do not want.
Take up these things of virtue and praise, and clothe your day in them.ย Choose to be purposefully mindful of that which is good, making that which is bad and sour flee before you.

โHis lord said unto him, well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord,โ Matthew 25:21
There is something to be said about a job well done.ย That oh-so-satisfying feeling when one has worked hard to see the fruition of a purpose being fulfilled and then steps back and announces, โAh, it was hard but well worth it.โย One of my pet peeves is asking someone to perform a task for me and the job ends up only halfway done, with half-way effort.ย Itโs a very frustrating experience because I could have just done the job myself the right way but that defeats the purpose of delegating a duty in the first place.ย
With that realization, I wonder how God must feel about the duties He has delegated to us?ย In our daily walk have we dealt with our Christianity with that same half-way done effort or have we really gone for the gusto?ย Have we really expressed ourselves as being faithful, manifesting all God is or has done in our lives?
Through that short stint of questioning the reality of it all hits me.ย No!ย The truth is, many of us are like the seed in the parable of the sower.ย The cares of this world have encroached upon us, choking the spiritual vitality right out of us, leaving us with only half-hearted energy to do a halfway job for God.ย Each of our lives is destined with purpose.ย Each has been endowed with something wonderful and unique to contribute to this world.ย God has chosen us to stand as ambassadors, to show this lost world how to be found and how to live in this world while having a flourishing relationship with Him.ย Unfortunately, that cannot be accomplished if we are not as diligent in the care of the work of the Lord as He is to us.ย
How will that great thing God put in you ever develop as an outgrowth of your faith if you are not faithful to it; if you are not faithful to Him?ย For if one is faithful to Him, then are they faithful to all He has instilled in them.ย How many wouldnโt like to hear, โWell done,โ coming from the mouth of our Lord? Sometimes we work hard in this life, doing all we know how to do to stay above water, then after all the heartache, sweat, and tears, a voice speaks and confirms that it was not in vain.ย โWell done.โ
In order to receive that proclamation of good work, one has to be faithful.ย The word โfaithfulโ was used twice in this one verse alone.ย First, it described the servant.ย Then it was used again to describe his work ethic.ย The servant was one who the master could count on because of his character, and also because of the way he handled the affairs of business.ย Does that word describe us in either or both of those ways?ย One without the other just wonโt do.ย James 2:17 tells us, โEven so faith, if it has not works, is dead, being alone.โย What goes on on the inside of the believer should show up on the outside.ย There should be some type of manifestation branching out of our faithfulness. ย
Everyone in Christ is called to a life of devotion to God, giving Him priority, as characterized by faithfulness, and having that reach out in our daily affairs.ย ย We are called to be that reliable, trustworthy person whom God doesnโt mind acknowledging as, โWell done,โ and handing him or her more talents to care for.ย
A life of faithfulness will get you there.ย Take God off the back burner of your life and give Him precedence over all.ย Rewards will come, but devotion comes first.ย The harvest will come but only after the seeds have been planted.ย The position of fulfilling purpose and accomplishing good works will always start with a position of faithfulness.ย

“I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.” – Matthew 28:20
Father God, thank You that You have not left us alone. Thank You that you are always by our side. Thank You that Your power and anointing are persistently working on our behalf. Through the confusion and chaos of the days, it’s easy to become discouraged by what we see before us, yet Your promises are never failing. When life tries to sidetrack us, You are He that holds our hand through it all letting us know that You are in the midst of it with us. Thank You for Your abiding presence and help with this day and every day. In Jesus’ name, AMEN!

If looking at a valley of dead bones isn’t enough, then what follows would have blown my mind!ย God does some pretty amazing things in the Bible and this by far has to be one of my favorite stories that display His complete sovereignty and grace.ย It’s one thing to hear of people being brought back from the dead and it’s quite another to see the process unfold in such an extraordinary way, even if it is in a wonderful vision.ย ย
Can you imagine experiencing that moment with God, and Him asking what is supposedly a simple but not-so-simple question?ย “Son of man, can these bones live?” (Ez. 37:3).ย That question must’ve rolled through his mind, stunning him a bit.ย Awestruck, his response was as I believe mine would have been, “O Lord God, thou knowest” (Ez. 37:3).ย
At that point, I believe Ezekiel was probably starting to realize in a whole new way the magnitude of this wonderful God we serve.ย Looking out over the valley that he was drawn to, and seeing the waste of what was once life and trying to imagine them alive? His response was to appeal to the sovereignty of God – “You know!”
God does know, but perhaps He wants us to know that He knows.ย Right?ย It may sound confusing but God puts these questions out there to see where our belief lies.ย To see if we really see Him as the One who is in control of everything, including those things that appear utterly dead and beyond the hope of restoration.
I don’t know personally how it may have looked, but I can imagine the scene in my head.ย Going about through that place and seeing nothing but human remains here and there.ย I would have begun pondering all the “what’s, who’s, why’s and how’s” all this came to pass.ย What battle took place?ย Who was involved?ย Why did it have to come to this?ย How is it that there were none left to bury the dead?ย There before him, was a mass of unanswered questions covering a sea of death.
I wonder about that scene with the appearance of bodies upon bodies, stacked and scattered throughout.ย Lives were gone here and there remained nothing but death and dry bones.ย Nothing to cheer about, nothing to hope for if it were not for that question that came from the mouth of the Lord: “Can these bones live?”
Death in reverse? Is that what God was asking, he must have wondered?ย Taking an impossible act of nature and reenacting the process in rewind mode?ย If the question wasn’t enough, how about the command: “Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of theย Lord.” (Ez. 37:4).ย ย Standing reverently but in utter stupefaction, Ezekiel must have known that he was at a point of no return in his ministry.ย God was drawing him deeper into the process.ย “I don’t know about this,” may have been what most would be thinking as they did as He commanded.ย ย ย
What would it have been like?ย At the spoken command, to hear an unsettling sound.ย A noise permeates the atmosphere.ย Rattling began to disturb the quiet of the valley.ย In a place that knew only demise and decay would now be re-identified as something miraculous.ย The rattle was with purpose.ย It meant things were moving into their proper place.ย It meant brokenness was being made whole.ย It was the start of a brand new life where there was none before.ย This was incredible to not only witness but to be a part of!
After the re-attachment of limbs and other skeletal remains, the real stuff transpired.ย It’s one thing for bones to find their host bodies and reattach themselves.ย It’s quite another to witness those very bones, and the nothingness that was left, begin to take on a new life.ย Sinews and flesh began to re-cover the bleached, parched surfaces.ย All the while, Ezekiel just watches.ย What would you do?ย Like a train wreck, as horrible as it may seem you can’t tear your eyes away from it.ย Under it all, organs started to reform and the life supply of veins maneuvered their way throughout, spreading the possibility for more life.ย ย
But God was not done, yet.ย He was genuinely reversing the life process.ย The bodies were now formed and covered “but there was no breath in them” (Ez. 37:8).ย Then, God gave him a new command: “Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lordย God; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live” (Ez. 37:9).ย Ezekiel followed God’s command and said,ย “So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army.” (Ez. 37:10).ย Before they stood, did they gasp at the feel of air entering their lungs once again?ย When they stood, did they turn to each other recognizing the “what was” and processing the “what is now?”
To see dead bones live in this fashion would have been awesome and beautiful.ย Think about it.ย God showed Ezekiel an impossible situation and did a complete turnaround and restored life where only death resided (compare to Israel’s spiritual restoration found in Ezekiel 37:11-14).ย It’s as if He had His finger on the hands of some big clock and purposefully began to rotate it backward.ย Spinning it and spinning it until all the death that once was had to let go and make room for new life to come to the forefront once again.ย What would it have been like to witness this vision?
Don’t you know? We may have not been bones but what remained of us of what the world stripped away was given a new command in the valley. The valley, our lowest point of life, was shaken and rattled until it stood at the command of God. Our lifelessness was renewed when His Spirit breathed in us freshness untold. Before He had a vision of us, we were surrounded by spiritual death. But then there arose potential out of nothingness. Captured by grace and loved on through His mercy, we received in us His gift of a second chance.
There are a lot of things in that particular vision of the valley that would have left me unsettled but I only had to turn to the One who was commanding the change in me and see the love in His eyes for me.ย I only had to look and believe as He did that, there is something alive here, there is something that can be raised up for me.ย We have all been in that valley.ย Vision or not, many have been to the place of impossibility just to see Him make it possible.
To see those bones rise to new life and live would have been awesome. But to see what He has done in us is far better.ย I don’t know what it would have been like there but I know what it is like here.ย The Bible says, “Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.ย For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection,” (Romans 6:4-5).ย Because of Christ, we have received another chance to experience a new life outside of the valley.ย Just because it appears dead, doesn’t mean it’s so.ย God can raise up the most impossible of situations.ย

Questions, we all have them. But where do we go for the answers?
When Daniel went before King Nebuchadnezzar to interpret his dream, he admitted his own human frailty, that he didn’t have the answer within himself. He said, โThis secret is not revealed to me for any wisdom that I have more than any living,โ (Daniel 2:30). He did not consider himself anything special just because he could interpret dreams, instead he gave glory to God, and said, โBlessed be the name of God for ever and ever” (Daniel 2:20a), and then directed those in attendance to where the answer is truly found: “for wisdom and might are his,โ Daniel said, speaking of the one and only true living God (2:20b; emphasis added).
Friends, are you struggling to try and figure it out? The answer to anything we need is found in God. In the Bible and throughout this life, we have seen many that rely on multiple things to provide the answer to their life struggles or for direction. Some have turned to idols, other people, or even themselves for the solutions to the help they need.
All those attempts are futile when we consider Psalm 46:1 gives this promise to us that “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
Proverbs also encourage us to “Trust in theย Lordย with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6).
Job, through the hardest times of life, gives us this testimony: “Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him. . .” (Job 13:15). In his foundation of faith, he may not have understood everything he was going through, but he understood that there was no greater help than the help that is found in God, who, “With him is wisdom and strength, he hath counsel and understanding” (Job 12:13). There is no other answer; there is no other trust for him and us to lean upon.
Where are you looking for answers today? I encourage you to look to God, for He is where your answers can be found. Keep coming to Him, and don’t stop!
Come to Him in prayer, and seek His face.
Come to Him through His Word, and learn what He has to say.
Come to Him with a heart opened and ready to receive His divine truths for your life.
