It’s A Miracle!

“This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.” John 2:11

It’s a miracle! That is a word many use loosely, leaving the true meaning in the abstract form or a watered-down version of the true power that reigns within it.

When discussing the word “miracle,” what comes to mind? Do you think of something extraordinary? Something that makes you do a double-take? Something that makes you scratch your head in amazement and wonder?

While we may have those reactions to certain things in life, a true miracle is something heavenly hand-crafted. It is something where you know if it had not been for God’s divine intervention, His holy touch, the outcome of what you were hoping and praying for would have been totally different.

The wedding in Cana became an event that forever displayed the nature of a true miracle (John 2:1-12). This event showed Jesus transforming the structure of one thing and completely making it something else. There is absolutely no way, outside of supernatural means, you can put plain water into clay or stone pots and draw out red wine. It just cannot be done. Even if one adds other elements to the water, it still would only produce something similar in taste and color, but not the real thing.

The only element Jesus used was His miracle-working power from heaven. The Bible explicitly tells us that nothing was in the pots but fresh water filled to the brim by the servants. That’s it. But Jesus, seeing the need that was in front of Him, stepped in, and divinely altered what they had into what was needed.

We don’t know how He did it, but if it could be explained so easily then I would have to question if it was a miracle at all.

As stated above, miracles leave you with no doubt who has worked in this situation or touched this life. Miracles ask for us to just accept what we have witnessed to be true, knowing that God has done something wonderful that cannot be explained according to our finite wisdom and understanding.

When Jesus performed miracles, people marveled and were amazed. They praised God. And a host of other varied reactions, but not once have I seen them take Him to the side and say, “Explain to me how you did that?”

Do you think the widow of Nain demanded of Jesus to know how He raised her son from the dead (Luke 7:11-16)? No, she just joyfully accepted it. Her son was alive again! And that was all that mattered. How about the Centurion whose servant was healed (Luke 7:1-10)? No, he just accepted it and took Jesus at His word.

The same reaction came from those who were delivered from evil spirits, those who were blind, mute, or lame, and then made whole – they all accepted the healing, accepted the miracle, and did not demand to know how He did it. They knew it was a miracle!

When God visits and miracles flow, lives are dramatically touched, changed, and healed for the better, and more than any thought possible. Miracles were real, alive, and true in the Bible-era days – and today, God can still work a miracle in your life. Just believe.

“Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth” (Mark 9:23).

That’s a miracle!

A Matthew 6:30 Promise | Words to Live By

Caring for someone is not a trivial thing. The importance of one’s love for you can be felt in what they do for you and by the words and the way they speak over you. The Father’s care for us can be experienced by both. In our daily lives, we see His love manifested in myriad ways. And in His Word, we read what He thinks of us and how important we are to Him. In Matthew 6:30, Jesus confirms this by telling us, “Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?” You cannot begin to understand how important you are to God, just trust that you are. And the daily things that concern us are not a worry in the heart of the Father. “He’s got you!” Those words are not just another casual phrase to be tossed about. They are words of promise you can stand upon in faith today!

Heal

Scabs were a fascination for me in my youth. I had a bad habit where right when the healing would be almost complete, I would pick at the scab and pick at it again until it reopened, prohibiting it from properly healing in a timely fashion.

In life, we can find ourselves doing the same thing with the hurts of all nature. And as easy as it is to pick, we can choose to leave it alone and let God do what He does best.

Allow for healing. What bitterness is so precious that we fight to hold on to it? What hurt must we keep rehearsing in our mind that we won’t let go of it? Allowing these to take up precious space in our hearts will not make room for His healing to take place when we can let it go and trust God with the outcome. Continually nursing all the wrongs prohibits the growth of all that is good.

We choose what we strengthen: bitterness and hurt or good and healing. We have the choice to bring into greater focus the things that will help us overcome those tumultuous thoughts or keep us bound in them. “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things” (Philippians 4:8).

Where your mind and your thinking lead, the heart will follow. Follow those beautiful things that lead to healing. Why let that which is corrupt ruin your day, your week, your life?

No one can understand like you what your heart is feeling (Proverbs 14:10). No one can discredit the hurt one has experienced. At the same time, no one but you can refuse to sit in the pity party, celebrating the misery.

Allow for healing. Bring all the heaviness of heart, all those things that speak against wholeness and recovery, all the hurt to Jesus, who promises that in Him, we will find rest for our souls (Matthew 11:29; read Matthew 11:28-30).

Why suffer as one who has no help? Jesus is your help for healing, and He is waiting to lead you into complete restoration. He is the cure for whatever you are holding onto, and He is the cure for whatever you are going through.

Focus your heart on what is good, and don’t leave Jesus out of the healing process. There is not an infirmity He hasn’t faced and experienced (Hebrews 4:15).

He knows how much it hurts, but He also knows how to bring about wholeness. “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need” (Hebrews 4:16). Come, that you may be healed.

Letting go of bitterness and hurt – sometimes it is easier said than done. But when we do, we allow for God’s healing to come and saturate our souls.

Our Bold Stance

Our posture is not a hung-down posture of giving in or giving up. We stand upright knowing who we are and Whose we are. Our posture is that of winners. As children of the Most High, we have a promise that will not be destroyed and we will not be defeated. We are always victors through Christ Jesus our Lord (1 Corinthians 15:57). The Bible declares, “We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed” (2 Corinthians 4:8-9).

As a Christian, you are victorious! You stand boldly knowing that regardless of what your current situation may tell you, God’s holy Word says that you are an overcomer (1 John 4:4).

More winning promises:

“The Lord is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?” Psalm 118:6

“What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31

“Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.” Romans 8:37

“For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39

“For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.” 1 John 5:4

Jesus is With You in the Storm

You are not in this alone in this. We carry this promise with us: “I am with you always, even unto the end of the world,” (Matthew 28:20). Believe that the same Jesus who stood on the boat and “rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm,” (Mark 4:39) is the same Jesus that is with you now.

Don’t Lose Heart

DON’T LOSE HEART. WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO AN ETERNAL REWARD! Daily, we may face challenges. Daily, there may be uprisings against our faith. But daily, we are renewed by His strength, power, and grace. The promise before us is greater than the trials in front of us.

“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” –2 Corinthians 4:16-18

Today is Temporary

The things we face today are temporary. What our future holds is eternal. If we focus more on that future and less on the stuff of today, I am sure we’ll be happier for it in the end.

Hold on to your hope . . .

Hold on to your hope and confidence in the Lord. I know, I know. They are words easier said than done some of the time, but it does not negate the truth of who God is in our lives. He is the One who knows all, sees all, and understands all. He is the One who knows our days better than we do. He knows the beginning from the end and every plan He has for us in between (Jeremiah 29:11).

Holding on may seem downright impossible at times. Holding on can be difficult when everything else around you is pulling for you to let go. Yet, in the end, for those who do hold on, for those who endure, for those who refuse to give in and give up, there is a wonderful reward from our Father who knows us best and loves us best. James tells us, “Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him” (James 1:12).

Therefore, my friend, “Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD,” (Psalms 27:14). The crown, and so much more is ahead. Believe God. Believe that God loves you more than you could ever know and what He has in store for you . . . one can only imagine. Don’t focus on what you see today because it is only temporary but there is a glorious, eternal future as we move onward and upward toward our heavenly home (2 Corinthians 4:18).

“Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is.” Jeremiah 17:7

“Jesus Didn’t Let Discouragement Win!” — Word For Life Says…

Discouragement is a pit that we don’t have to waste time swimming in. As children of God, we are made for so much more! Sometimes it does get hard, but we must make a conscious decision to respond the way Jesus did and to not let it frustrate us from everything that God has for us, and everything He wants us to be and do.
