BEING BOLD IS HOW THE RIGHTEOUS LIVE!
“THE RIGHTEOUS ARE BOLD AS A LION!” PROVERBS 28:1
IN WHAT AREA IS GOD CALLING YOU TO BE BOLD?
“He calms the storm, so that its waves are still. Then they are quiet; so He guides them to their desired haven,” Psalm 107:29-30, NKJV. In life, we face many challenges and ugliness that will try to rise up against what God wants you to do and where God wants to lead you. Trust Him to guide you through the storm and to make them be quiet before you. Don’t forget to thank Him for the wonderful works He does in your life, Psalm 107:31.
No matter who you are. No matter what your position is in your home, work, or local church. No matter what call is placed on your life. If you, or anyone of us, are going to successfully make it through this Christian journey we need support. We need encouragement from one another. We need assistance through hard times and struggles. In the midst of our personal and spiritual battles, we need a helping hand; someone who will be there as our advocate and friend to help us carry the load. We all need someone whom we can garner strength from in our times of weakness.
There was a time in the Bible when Moses sent Joshua out to battle against the Amalekites. During this battle, Moses stood atop a hill with the rod of God in his hand. As long as his hands were raised the battle would turn in their favor, giving them victory against their adversary. But, the longer the battle ensued the more cumbersome it became for Moses to hold that victory stance. For every time his hands became weak and he lowered his arms, the enemy would start prevailing against his people. Upon seeing the heavy hands of Moses, Aaron and Hur came to his aid. They offered him support. They sat Moses down on a rock and they held his heavy hands; they came alongside him during the fight to help keep his hands steady (read Exodus 17:8-13).
The Bible tells us, “Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow. . . And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken,” (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12). There is strength in togetherness. There is value in being there for one another. When someone’s hands are getting too heavy to deal with the things in life, we as a people of God should come alongside them as the boys did for Moses, and help them through the battle. Then, we are unified as one in the struggle, offering the strength that cannot be easily torn away.
Do you or someone you know need assistance? Do you know someone who is having a hard time right now? It might be nothing big, but just the daily ins and outs of life are wearing on you or a friend. Can you offer encouragement to that one? If you are the one in a struggle and need help, I encourage you to not try to fight alone. Find someone who will come alongside you to champion your cause with you. If you know someone who is struggling, can you be the one that helps strengthen the heavy hands? What greater way to show the love of Christ in you than to be there for each other?

Lamentations 3:22-23
There seems to be news every day of more and more people experiencing hardships in their lives. There are stories of loved ones that didn’t return home. There are stories of weather disasters wiping out cities. There are stories of our young people and teenagers struggling. There are stories of corrupt politics; a crippling economy, job layoffs and firings, and more.
You name it and it’s out there. The daily news is littered with the truth of the sorrow that can penetrate into anyone’s life on any given day; stories that cause one to just shake their head and feel the pang of sympathy for those going through. Nobody wants to experience hardships and nobody wants to see anybody else having to suffer with it either.
It is during these times when we have to fight the most to remember the sovereignty of God. When we have to continually pound it into our heads that He is in control and “His compassions fail not.” Life may seem very, very bleak at times but God is still on His throne and “great is Thy faithfulness!”
Going through the hardships and the disappointments of life are hard enough, but when we start attributing the human characteristics of short-comings to a divine God, we rob ourselves of an unfailing assurance.
It’s hard to keep one’s head above water during times of crisis. It is at that time when we need our safety float the most. Then is when we need to remember that God has never failed and He is not about to start failing today. He is forever faithful!
Even in the book of Lamentations after the people went into captivity and Jerusalem became desolate, Jeremiah penned words that still inspire to this generation. They became words that have resonated God’s faithfulness in song; words that recognize that God is still there with His people.
“This I recall to my mind, therefore I have hope,” (Lamentations 3:20), Jeremiah writes. This is a made up mind focused on all that God has done through you and for you; seeing how He has moved in times past in your life. Looking back and remembering the prayers that He has already answered brings to the forefront of your mind all the successes He has allowed you to experience. Let that store up for you an arsenal of truth that fights for you and will declare “He is faithful!”
Don’t measure God faithfulness by your present circumstances. God never promised the absence of hardship or adversity in our Christian walk. But, what He did promise, in His faithfulness, to be in it all the way with you (Matthew 28:20). Therefore, “Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised),” Hebrews 10:23. The pathway we have walked may not have been all peaches and cream, but God was there with us and brought us through to this day because He is faithful.

It should be me there on that tree
to perish for all eternity.
Bearing the burdens of all my wrongs,
crying and wailing the sinner’s song.
It should be me who suffered on that night
bearing the brunt of the whipper’s stripes,
but when He looked down through the ages,
passing by the kings, wise men and sages,
He saw something special in me
that compelled Him to still mount that tree.
It should be me who readily paid the cost
because I was the one that was truly lost.
But Jesus didn’t see it that way,
which is why on this earth He could not stay.
Doing all at the Father’s holy will,
mounting higher and higher on Calvary’s hill,
He was lifted up that we might be free,
to draw men to Himself, that was the key.
It should be me is what we need to say,
because we are the sheep that have gone astray,
doing everything in our own stubborn way,
far from the King’s heavenly highway.
But Jesus stepped in looking down from the cross,
viewing with battered eyes all that were lost,
He and His Father they did agree,
for the world to be saved, it should be Me!
Thank you Jesus for stepping in for me!
