There is a future, a time to come that will reach beyond all we see today. Our hope is for that day. We live this Christian pilgrimage for that time. Our promises were never to be completely fulfilled or satisfied in our natural life. But in eternity, more than we could ever conceive with our human intellect will be ours as we lay down the burdens of these days forever and step into glory the natural man cannot fully comprehend. Watch for that day. Be ready for that day.

“Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.” Matthew 24:42

“Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.” Mark 13:33

“Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.

“And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants.

And this know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through.

Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not.” Luke 12:37-40

“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” Revelation 21:4

“Therefore the redeemed of the LORD shall return, and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joyΒ shall beΒ upon their head: they shall obtain gladness and joy;Β andΒ sorrow and mourning shall flee away.” Isaiah 51:11

Surrender

When you try to control everything, everything is only controlled by your limited capacity. But when you loosen your grip, and place it in God’s hands, He can work something wonderful, beyond your wildest dreams.

Sounds nice, you might say, but it’s easier said than done.

I think we’ve all been there at one time or another, a time when what we know and read in the promises of Scripture is asked to come alive in our hearts and actions. It’s a call to let go. Surrender. Give up, in the very best way, of trying to figure everything out and pretending we have all the answers, and freefall into the arms of our loving God who is omniscient, who is all-powerful.

It is totally trusting, not in our own abilities, but in His who has never failed to catch the one committed to trusting Him.

It may challenge you. It may stretch you. It may call for courage that you are not used to exhibiting, nevertheless, let go, and trust.

Relinquish control, and give room for God to work.

Father God, I am not perfect in wisdom and understanding, but You are. I lay it all at Your feet and trust Your guiding hand in holy surrender. I pray for Your help through it all. ”Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven,” (Matthew 6:10). Amen.

“Trust in theΒ LordΒ with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” ~ Proverbs 3:5-6

“Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.” ~ Psalm 119:133

“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” ~ Philippians 4:6

“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” ~ 1 Peter 5:7

In God, you will find everything you need to satisfy your soul.

What you feed yourself on, and what you fill your mind with will determine what you produce in your life. Fill up on the goodness of the Father. Fill up on His Word. Fill up on β€œEvery good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights…” (James‬ ‭1:17‬). His ways are perfect and right. In Him, you will find everything you need to satisfy your soul.

Try Him for Yourself!

β€œO taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.” Psalm 34:8

Experience is everything.Β  Many people can talk about knowing God from an external point of view, but they don’tΒ knowΒ Him for themselves deep on the inside.Β  They haven’t experienced the depths of intimacy involved in being in a real relationship with God (for more encouragement see my article, The God We Feel).

David had experience with God.Β  Before he ever faced Goliath (1 Samuel 17), and even before he was on Saul’s radar, who now counted him as an enemy and was in the process of hunting him down, causing David to flee for his life, act like a madman, and hide (see 1 Samuel 21), he had encounters that let him know that God was there for him.Β  There was even a time when he faced a bear and lion and came out victorious (1 Samuel 17:34-35).

God, Himself called David β€œa man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will,” (Acts 13:22) because of his walk with Him.Β  David was not a stranger to God.Β  He was a frequent worshipper, a frequent prayer-er, and frequently inclined to look to God, do what He said, walk with Him, and guide his life by His holy standards.

David knows what it’s like to get hooked up with God and let that hookup be your life foundation.Β  With that, he calls others to reach out and try Him for themselves.Β  Don’t let this moment or day go by without knowing and experiencing God on that same personal level David did.Β  He encouraged them to, β€œTaste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him” (compare 1 Peter 2:3).

God is good (see Psalm 100:5; Nahum 1:7; Matthew 19:17) and God does good (see Psalm 119:64; Genesis 1)!Β  God cannot separate Himself from who He is and what He does.Β  And, David wants people to know it, taste it, and experience it for themselves!

Those who put God at the focal center of their lives and decisions, those who recognize the sovereignty of God over all, will be supplied by Him.Β  God provides for His people.Β  God cares for His people.Β  β€œHe will fulfil the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them,” (Psalm 145:19; see also Psalm 23:1; Proverbs 10:24).

David has experienced the hand of God’s care over and over again, and he assures others they can too if they follow Him.

Where to Look!

In those times when you don’t know what to do or who to turn to for help, look unto the LORD. He will be your perfect guide, strength, and help.
