SMH (Shaking My Head)

SMH, a phrase on Facebook,

With roving eyes and a condemning look.

It’s being measured and weighed and found for wanting,

Their righteous indignation is the mind’s taunting.

It’s looking at a picture, a status, a quote,

And thinking to oneself, “That life’s a joke.”

Off the internet to the daily surrounds,

How often do our heads shake with that judgmental pound?

Lives picked apart, layers uncovered;

Never really knowing the inner undiscovered.

Never judge a book by its cover is what they say,

But most of the masses don’t see it this way.

Not satisfied until a life is going down,

With burdens so heavy, one begins to drown.

Dealing with turmoil and constant tossing;

Needing to be rescued desperately from the exhausting.

There’s only One who can judge the end of the story;

Who’s read all the pages, and accepts to glory.

Knowing the beginning from the end, and the story throughout,

He works on deliverance; erasing all fear and doubt.

The crowds of shaking heads is not His priority.

The heart bowed before Him takes all seniority.

Shaking heads tears lives apart,

But His grace offers a brand new, fresh start.

James 2:13 “For judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy.  Mercy triumphs over judgment,” (NKJV).

Poetry – “Speak Blessings!”

Whipping about, lashing and hateful

This small member’s language is often fateful

For it strips and works to tear people down

Dropping their countenance to the ground

How often have we participated in the mess

When instead we could have used it to bless

To encourage, to lift, to exalt another

To enrich the lives of our Christian brother

To hold, to love, to show what’s right

Instead we often use it to fight

Wouldn’t it have been just as easy still

To bless according to God’s holy will

To show favor over mocking disdain

And love over inflicting pain

To build and nurture a life within

Instead of participating in this deadly sin

Whose pride causes a boast of self

Instead of nurturing to spiritual health

Speak blessings and help a life to grow

And you’ll reap the rewards from that life you did sow

“Let your speech always be with grace. . .”  Colossians 4:6

“Search Me, O God!”

search-001

Search me, O God

From the inside out

And see what my life

Is all about.

Am I living true to Your holy name,

Or is my worship just a game?

Search me, O God

And know my heart

And see from Your way

Have I thus part.

In my spirit, I am most sincere,

Please search, and to Your side

Draw me near.

Search me, O God

And tell if You see

Anything that will keep me

From all eternity.

If it be there, help me dig out the root,

That I might produce Your spiritual fruit.

Search me, O God

My blessed Savior,

Save me from my sometimes

Ungodly behavior.

Apologetically I come,

With a heart in deep sorrow,

Pleading for You to lead me

To Your heavenly tomorrow.

Search me, O God

And lead me home

To the place where I stand

Before Your throne.

Living in the peace You gave to me,

For Your search dug out who I used to be.

“No Weapon!”

No weapon! It’s not hard to see,
Every one that’s formed, propelled against me.
It’s vanished, thrown into the dust.
It won’t prosper, in the Lord I trust.

I am fortified in the Holy Ghost.
Your condemning tongues falsify your boast.
Darts aimed, ready to take flight.
Target unreached, by His might.

Shielded in the heritage, I belong to the Lord.
Bought with a price I could not afford.
Redeemed and covered, renewed to excel.
All arrows and swords, He did dispel.

“No weapon formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn.  This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD,” Isaiah 54:17

“Despite It All!”

Despite my failings,
my shortcomings and shame.
Despite my choices
from which heartaches did rain.

 Despite the coldness
of my sometimes failing heart.
Despite the right path
of which I did depart.

 Despite the apples
on the tree.
Despite the way
my sin views me.

 Despite the world’s
proffered delicacies.
Despite the lies
on which I did feed.

 Despite it all,
despite the mess.
Despite the feeling
of total brokenness.

 He brought me out;
and for His glory,
restored me wholly,
magnifying His love story.

“Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit,” Psalm 51:12

“By Chance?”

I had no knowledge at the start

When my life began with that conceptive spark.

Did life happen instantaneously?

What’s the real story all about me?

Am I here by chance?

Has every road taken come by happenstance?

Am I just a flash in the pan?

What is the true story of who I am?

Here’s the deal, the real story.

I was created for His glory.

I am created by design

With His perfect plan for me in mind.

I was fashioned with special care;

My life, my eyes, and sometimes frizzy hair.

To be His workmanship here on this earth,

To use my gifts till I return to dirt.

To be the life that He can work through;

All of my parts, all of me . . . and my special hue.

I am designed specially by His hand,

And nothing about me was left to chance!

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them,” Ephesians 2:10

“Greater Is He!”

My Project 84-001

Greater is He that is in me!

The life inside that I cannot see.

Only feel with the passion and the burn

Love from the cross that flows unearned.

Glowing embers His spirit unfolds.

Power inside of stories untold!

Ripping away all the fear and frights;

Layering on His love’s holy light.

The life inside has been swept and cleaned

By the Master who defeats enemies unseen.

Foes tremble, their strength can’t compare,

‘Cause greater is He now resides there.

“Greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world,” 1 John 4:4

“It Should Be Me!”

It should be me there on that tree

to perish for all eternity.

Bearing the burdens of all my wrongs,

crying and wailing the sinner’s song.

It should be me who suffered on that night

bearing the brunt of the whipper’s stripes,

but when He looked down through the ages,

passing by the kings, wise men and sages,

He saw something special in me

that compelled Him to still mount that tree.

It should be me who readily paid the cost

because I was the one that was truly lost.

But Jesus didn’t see it that way,

which is why on this earth He could not stay.

Doing all at the Father’s holy will,

mounting higher and higher on Calvary’s hill,

He was lifted up that we might be free,

to draw men to Himself, that was the key.

It should be me is what we need to say,

because we are the sheep that have gone astray,

doing everything in our own stubborn way,

far from the King’s heavenly highway.

But Jesus stepped in looking down from the cross,

viewing with battered eyes all that were lost,

He and His Father they did agree,

for the world to be saved, it should be Me!

Thank you Jesus for stepping in for me!

John 3:17  “For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.”
