Poem – “Before”

Before . . .
Before any pain . . .
Before any disappointments . . .
Before any tragedies and hurts . . .
Before any suffering . . .
Before any upsets . . .
Before any misunderstandings
and curse . . .

God knew you
and formed you
and created you to be,
a child victorious;
sanctified to lead.

What you see right now
is not all there is,
God designed you with potential
for such a time as this.

He created and filled you
with anointing for the task.
Don’t let what you see
make you question and ask,
“Is this me?
Do I make a difference?
What’s the point of it all?”
You have it in you to succeed;
to climb mountains so tall.

Believe more in His divine
design for your life.
Over any posed signs of
animosity and strife.
Believe His perfect plan
for your life will win out –
therefore, shhh . . .
silence the voice of doubt.

He formed you;
He knew you;
He brought you to be.
Go ahead and claim it –
you’re a child of victory!
“Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee…” Jeremiah 1:5

“It Should Be Me!”

It should be me there on that tree
to perish for all eternity.
Bearing the burdens of all my wrongs,
crying and wailing the sinner’s song.

It should be me who suffered on that night
bearing the brunt of the whipper’s stripes.
But when He looked down through the ages,
passing by the kings, wise men, and sages,
He saw something special in me
that compelled Him to still mount that tree.

It should be me who readily paid the cost
because I was the one that was truly lost.
But Jesus didn’t see it that way,
which is why on this earth He could not stay.
Doing all at the Father’s holy will,
mounting higher and higher on Calvary’s hill.
He was lifted up that we might be free,
to draw men to Himself, that was the key.

It should be me is what we need to say,
because we are the sheep that have gone astray.
Doing everything in our own stubborn way,
far from the King’s heavenly highway.
But Jesus stepped in looking down from the cross,
viewing with battered eyes all that were lost.
He and His Father they did agree,
for the world to be saved, it should be Me!

Thank you, Jesus, for stepping in for me!

John 3:17  “For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.”

John 10:17-18 “Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.  No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.”

Mark 10:45 “For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.”

John 6:38 “For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.”

“Relying On God”

Not by my own strength,
it’s failing, it’s fleeting.
Relying on myself,
my life takes a beating.

It’s against the wind I fight,
expending all my fleshly might.
It’s only by His Spirit I can win,
supplied by God, the power within.

Many are searching
for the prosperous way,
forcing themselves
with striving each day.

The plans of man
are but weak and futile.
Relying on God will carry you
to the very last mile.

“Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of Hosts,” Zechariah 4:6

“Whatever!”

Whatever is a word
used with disregard;
it comes as an answer
when life seems hard.

Whatever is a comfort
I take to heart;
a word I treasure
when life falls apart.

 Whatever covers
all my pain and sorrow.
Whatever sows seeds
of hope for tomorrow.

Whatever, no matter
what the burden is,
I cast them to Him,
and now they are His.

I don’t have to worry,
I don’t have to fear;
shouldered upon His love,
whatever the frets, they disappear.

“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you,” 1 Peter 5:7

“How Many Times?”

How many times have I missed the mark?
How many times have I chosen the dark?

How many times have I despised what’s right?
How many times have I lived for the night?

How many times has my life taken an ugly turn?
How many of your graces did I willingly spurn?

How many times do you love me still?
How many times do You draw me to do Your will?

How many times has Your Spirit poured out,
To quench the thirst of this soul in drought?

How many times, in my life, Your victories have won,
To reach in and save me by the blood of Your dear Son?

How many times have you drawn me to stay
By Your side, because You’re the only way?

How many times have you redeemed me from my sinful plight,
To allow me to relish in Your Son’s holy light?

How many times can I say I love You?
Numbering them one by one just won’t do!

How many times is a question I ask,
Because keeping this soul is an awesome task.

How many times . . . oh, I’m so grateful You do,
Never to give up on a love between me and You.

“For a righteous man may fall seven times and rise again,” Proverbs 24:16

“Heavenly Father, take my hand…”

Heavenly Father,
take my hand,
and lead me through
this desert land.

Where hope seems dismal
and love fades.
But, You are my shelter.
Your heart is my shade.

Each step I walk,
I am found with You.
You hold me, You guide me.
You carry me through.

No matter the dreariness
of the land ahead.
I have no reason
to fret or dread.

My hand in Yours,
we keeping walking through.
Til I arrive in that City
whose destination is true.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.”

Psalm 23:4

And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.  My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.  I and my Father are one.”

John 10:28-30

“My Redeemer Lives!”

When fear surrounds
and questions lurk
and doubt becomes
a prevalent force.
When troubles prevail
and night overtakes the day,
and times feel lost,
at the end of the course.

When hope slips, memories fade,
I grab hold to pull You near;
to hear what You have to say.
My Redeemer lives are the words I read,
the whispers that encourage –
the strength to stay.

Sitting in the ashes and dust.
Friends, miserable comforters
and in companions, no trust.
Alone and desolate,
vacant from a touch of love,
my eyes raise in prayer
seeking from Him that is above.

Back down on the pages
in Your Word, I read,
my Redeemer lives –
someone somewhere is thinking about me.
A revelation to encourage,
a truth to behold,
my Redeemer lives, there I am told.

Guess what, all hope is not lost!
though turbulent waves crash
and life feels tossed.

Shine down, O Savior, I pray,
and lift me from this dusty sorrow.
Let Your might, Your love, Your truth prevail
and bless my soul, O My Hope for tomorrow.

Dear Friends, even if things don’t look like they’re turning in your favor. Even if today doesn’t look better than yesterday. God, your Redeemer, is alive and in charge. Believe HIM through it all, no matter what it looks like right now! Just ask Job. Through it all, he declared, “For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth,” (Job 19:25).

“Speak Blessings!”

Whipping about, lashing and hateful

This small member’s language is often fateful

For it strips and works to tear people down

Dropping their countenance to the ground

How often have we participated in the mess

When instead we could have used it to bless

To encourage, to lift, to exalt another

To enrich the lives of our Christian brother

To hold, to love, to show what’s right

Instead we often use it to fight

Wouldn’t it have been just as easy still

To bless according to God’s holy will

To show favor over mocking disdain

And love over inflicting pain

To build and nurture a life within

Instead of participating in this deadly sin

Whose pride causes a boast of self

Instead of nurturing to spiritual health

Speak blessings and help a life to grow

And you’ll reap the rewards from that life you did sow

“Let your speech always be with grace. . .”  Colossians 4:6

“The God Who Touches Me . . .” | Inspirational Christian Poetry

The God who touches me is the God who loves me.
Saved, my sins He has thrown into the deep sea.

He carries my soul in His hand day by day.
He wraps His strength around me; my fortress, my stay.

He covers me in light that shields from the dark.
He is the armor that protects from all fiery darts.

He’s my Shepherd and the Lamb, who leads and sacrifice.
My safety; my salvation came at His high price.

The God who touches me cares beyond what we know.
His love on display is the grandest show.

In it we see eternity play out.
His best became our rest; no reason to doubt.

On His throne, He sits in heaven where we bow at the knee.
Never forsaking us, in His presence, till we are there home free.

The God who touches me, I reach out for Him too.
As the woman grabs His hem and is healed through and through.

To feel His virtue; His power; His love – it’s so real.
His Spirit overwhelms; on my heart is His seal.

Taking me to heights in heaven to know,
where for eternity I bask in His unimaginable glow.
